Musician/visual artist Tor Lundvall presents an effective set of shaded songs, saturated with
dim, dreaming introspection and deliberate, resonant harmonies.
Reverberant keyboard progressions chime patiently, with penetrating focus; they blur and blend with softly floating and descending
vocal lines. Last Light captures simple but passionate performances that fixate on pensive moods and twilight hues.
Often, the voice is a wondrous and seamless extension of the ambience of the music; occasionally the lyrics
find themselves a bit rushed, straining to find enough space within the musical phrases. But the result is always
moving, and the emotional intent clear.
At it's most poignant moments, Last Light envelops a listener in a rich melancholy with it's ethereal colors and sonic wash.
Upon repeated listenings, perhaps there would be . . . for some . . . the temptation to crave more varied textural shifts, or perhaps an occasional
infusion of frenetic movement; an unexpected disturbance threading itself into a key moment.
But then the beauty of Last Light's emotional focus, purity . . . might be wrongly obscured.
